There are many different ways to safely infuse medications. A clinical pharmacist will personally work with you and your physician to determine the most cost effective method possible.
Elastomeric Pump – The pharmacist prefill these so called a “Home Ball” or “Ball Pump” with the medication in a sterile environment. This method is highly portable for those who needs to walk around during the infusion.
IV Push – Occasionally, a rapid push, Intramuscular route or subcutaenous route is appropriate and economical. Again, a pharmacist can review this with your doctor.
Gravity IV – Some medication especially hydration therapy uses this method. Gravity set also can come with a regulator to set a constant rate. An IV Pole is needed for this technique.
Mechanical Pump – This method is for complex therapy such as TPN or Pain medicines that need programming with a Mechanical Pump.
